Anesvad Foundation Project
We support African researchers working in the
field of neglected tropical diseases (NTDs)
At Anesvad Foundation, we firmly believe in the importance of supporting research on neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) of the skin. These diseases, which mainly affect the most vulnerable populations in low-resource countries, often lack the attention and resources needed for their proper prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
One of the fundamental reasons why we are dedicated to supporting research in NTDs is our steadfast belief in gender equality. We recognize that women play a crucial role in scientific research and that their active participation in research teams is essential to ensure equitable and comprehensive results. We therefore actively advocate the participation of women researchers and leaders in the research projects we support. We believe that, alongside them, we are not only promoting gender equality but also enriching the research process with diverse perspectives and approaches.
Furthermore, we understand the importance of fostering collaboration and solidarity between countries of the global north and south in the fight against NTDs and research on them. We acknowledge that these diseases know no borders and that an effective response requires global cooperation as well as an equitable distribution of resources and knowledge. To do this, we are working diligently to enable the exchange of experiences and knowledge among researchers and health professionals from different regions of the world. We believe that by joining forces and sharing resources we can significantly advance the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of NTDs globally.
In short, at Anesvad Foundation we are committed to supporting research on neglected tropical diseases, placing particular focus on gender equality and equitable research consortia. We are confident that by working together and ensuring the equitable participation of all stakeholders we can achieve significant progress in fighting these diseases and improving the health and well-being of the most vulnerable communities.
“Think outside the box” is our tribute to African researchers committed to global health and the fight against NTDs, and thus to all researchers, present and future.
